Some modules contain audio and others are designed to be easily adapted for presentation in your organization with notes for presenters. Also included is a community-based module for introducing school nurses to Evidence-Based Practice, promoting collaboration across the larger nursing community. Please note that the educational modules under development at this time are designed to meet member requests. Modules will be added on an ongoing basis. Below are a few examples of the modules currently posted.

    JOURNAL CLUB

Our journal club section features articles on how to start a journal club, forms to use when critiquing articles, online article critiques every other month (alternating months), and an opportunity to share journal club experiences with nurses in our member sites. Member sites may suggest articles for critique. Experienced journal club mentors are available for assistance via email communication.

EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICE GUIDELINES

At the request of the University of Iowa School of Nursing, we have removed the EBP Guidelines orignially disseminated via the Nursing Research Translation and Dissemination Core. As you know, most of these were over 5 years old. We are currently reviewing evidence-based information for practice and will be posting that information on this site for your ready access. Thanks for your tolerance as we make these changes.  Feel free to contact Larisa Leader at lleader@umich.edu with questions.

EVIDENCE-BASED SEARCH ENGINE

This search feature allows your staff to quickly search for EBP articles, information, or EBP guidelines on topics of interest. Because our search engine looks only for information on pre-approved EBP sites, we streamline the process of obtaining the best evidence.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT MEASUREMENT INSTRUMENTS

The purpose of this section of our website is to provide our members with summaries of an array of instruments for measuring core healthcare delivery context variables. We provide instrument description, psychometric data, references and sources. The organizational context consists of core elements that include culture and climate, interactive human relationships, and the measurement and evaluation processes specific to the organization. While there is no general consensus on which set of core elements are key to promoting EBP, we will be adding various instruments to measure those core elements that are suggested in the literature to influence the rate and sustainability of EBP.

FORUM FOR SHARING EBP PROJECTS

Sample evidence-based practice project reports provide real success stories from a number of member organizations. Each project report gives an opportunity to see the process and outcomes which provide opportunities for discussion and shared learning among members.

NEWS UPDATES ON EBP FROM MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS

Members can submit their EBP project for consideration to be featured on the website and in the newsletter. This is an excellent way to see what other sites are doing and obtain new ideas and information for implementing change in your organization. This opportunity allows exceptional performance in EBP from your organization to be recognized throughout the NNPN community.

FEATURED NURSE

Member sites nominate a member from their organization to be featured on our NNPN homepage and in the newsletter. This is an opportunity to showcase individual successes and contributions to EBP that impact organizations.

STAFF NURSE SECTION

This section is made specifically for our NNPN staff nurses. It is designed for ease of use with pertinent information all in one spot for quick access. It includes the following menus: About Us, Discussion Board, and Eye on Evidence.

NNPN DISCUSSION BOARD

Take part in online discussions, or just listen in to learn what is on the mind of nurses throughout the NNPN.
