Wine and Cheese EBP Presentation
The Wine and Cheese EBP gathering was organized by the EBP Steering Committee as a way to introduce the EBP process and projects occurring at SARMC to interdisciplinary managers and directors. The EBP Steering Committee realized we would have to compact a great deal of information into a short amount of time, but we also wanted our leaders to have fun while they were learning. I gave a brief history of EBP at SARMC, and introduced the EBP Steering Committee. We then paralleled the EBP process with wine tasting, selecting judges in advance to participate as the judges.(See the attached scenario). Different wines were tasted and each judge had to rate the wine (see attached rating scale). At the end of the tastings, all the judges had to agree on a single wine selection. Each wine came with a set of "evidence" which was read out loud to the entire group. Of course, not all the "evidence" was equal.
After the wine judging, members of the EBP committee presented past, current or proposed projects and followed the same format that was demonstrated in the wine judging (see attachment). To introduce the project, we played a movie theme song and had the group guess the movie, for example:
● Airway Management—(movie theme song "Gone with the Wind")
● NG—(movie theme song from Dirty Dancing "Hungry Eyes")
● Oral Care—(movie theme song "Jaws")
● Urinary Catheterization—(movie theme song "Saturday NightFever")
● Spinal Cord—(movie theme song "Brokeback Mountain")
● Family Presence during Code— (movie theme song "Somewhere over the Rainbow)
