All New Members Please Read

Thank you for your interest in membership in the National Nursing Practice Network. Membership is currently limited to individuals who are affiliated with one of the NNPN member hospitals. If you are not associated with one of these hospitals and feel that you should be allowed to be a member of our community, please feel free to contact us with your reasons.

Basic Terms of Service

This BBS is not to be used to post free advertising or solicitations, any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law. You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you.

Advertising or Self Promotion:

Please do not post any messages anywhere on this site that are primarily for the promotion or advertising of any website, forums, email address, business, MLM, activity, or other entities that you have an affiliation with (i.e. no self-promotion). If you know of a website that you feel would be appropriate for us to link to, feel free to submit it using the “Submit Weblink” option on the User Menu. Staff members may remove or edit links at their discretion.

Advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are inappropriate to post or send through PM, email, or any other feature of the NNPN website.

Posting e-mail addresses:

We strongly discourage members from posting their email address on this forum. Posting such information publicly may result in unsolicited emails (spam) or other negative consequences. Neither the National Nursing Practice Network nor Zander Graphics (the website developer) shall assume any responsibility for any negative effects resulting from members posting personal information on this or any other website. Member accounts are equipped with private messaging capabilities for contacting other members.

Using Professional Titles:

Members cannot call themselves by professional titles if they do not hold that title.
For example, members cannot call themselves "doctor, Dr., RN, LPN, LVN, Nurse, CNA, RT, MA, PhD" etc, unless they are actually licensed and/or certified as such a thing.

Copyrighted Material:

No "spreading of copyrighted material": Please do not upload, attach, or post anything that is copyrighted or licensed without prior consent of the owner. Neither the NNPN nor Zander Graphics assumes any responsibility for any posted materials that violate copyright or other publication laws. If you would like to reference copyrighted materials in your post, please use an appropriate method. For example, if you want to post content from an online article, do not post the whole article, post a partial synopsis, and then a link to the source.

English Language Only

This bulletin board is based in the United States, therefore the primary language in this forum is English. Due to this fact and our inability to moderate threads in other languages, we ask that users refrain from posting in any language other than English.

Shouting

Please do not type entirely in capitals, also referred to as "shouting" on the Internet. Along with using proper English spelling and punctuation, this shows respect for the owner, other bulletin board members and guests, and makes it easier to read your important thoughts.

Public Disagreements with Administration/Staff or Guidelines

You agree that if you disagree with NNPN website policy or action of a staff member, you will not post public arguments or disagreements nor attempt to petition the owner/administration to change policy through posts, polls, email, PM, or any other service found within the NNPN website. If you disagree, you may respectfully contact the site Administrator using the Private Message system built in to the community or through the Contact page.

Disabling/editing of posts/users:

The site Administrator and NNPN board reserves the right to edit/remove the posts and/or disable the account of any member who does not comply with these community guidelines or any reason deemed appropriate by the administration for the good of the community and its safety. Requests for removal will entail removing personal data, location, avatar, etc,. to protect the privacy of the person but the member account will remain intact because of the nature of the threading of posts within the database.

Freedom of Speech?

Although the constitution of the U.S. guarantees that “Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech”, the NNPN is not Congress. Freedom of speech rights do not extend to this privately owned website. The TOS/Guidelines of this website governs the behaviors and activities of the members. If you choose not to follow the guidelines agreed to during registration, you will not be permitted to participate.

Debates

We promote the idea of lively debate. This means you are free to disagree with anyone on any type of subject matter as long as your criticism is constructive and polite.

Personal Attacks

Our first priority is to the members that have come here because of the flame-free atmosphere we provide. There is a zero-tolerance policy here against personal attacks. We will tolerate neither anyone insulting another individual's opinion nor name calling and will BAN offenders.

How to Handle Personal Attacks or Objectionable Material

If you are ever in a position where you feel you have been personally attacked, do not respond to that attack. Please report the post to a Moderator using the Private Messaging system or through the “Contact Us” link in the main menu. Let us deal with the problem. If you respond to that attack, you may find yourself removed as well, and we don't want to see that happen.

Although we make every attempt to actively monitor the contents of posted messages neither the National Nursing Practice Network nor Zander Graphics assume any responsibility for any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message. The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of the NNPN or any entity associated with this website. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately using the private messaging system or by email. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately.

Hate Speech and Inappropriate Generalizations

It is important to remember that this bulletin board serves the needs of nurses and health care professionals in many different communities. Our call is to be supportive, not divisive. Because of this, discrimination, racial vilification, and offensive generalizations targeting people of other races, religions, nationalities, and/or any other lines of distinction will not be tolerated.

Foul Language

This is not a public board. You are all guests here. We have the right to edit posts that violate our forum guidelines or remove members at any time. Nothing should ever be posted here that you would not say in front of a crowd of strangers. Don't post anything distasteful or anything you feel might offend someone else. Please use only PG-13 type language or milder in ALL forums.
Using faintly disguised obscenities with creative or phonetic spelling basically shows disrespect for your hosts. Please show your appreciation for the venue we provide.

If it is not deliberate disrespect for the others, then it could be the inability to express a thought without spicing it indiscriminately with foul language. While strong words have their place and time, a public forum in which polite conduct has been requested is not the time or the place for them.

Multiple Accounts

Use of 2 accounts by the same member simultaneously is not permitted, and one or all accounts may be banned or suspended without notice, especially if the multiple accounts are being used to troll the board. If you forget your password, please use the “Lost Password” option located just underneath the login button. If you still have trouble accessing your account, contact the site Administrator to have your password reset.

Consequences to Breech of the Terms of Service

Consequences are partially dependent on the nature of the offense. If you use the Private Message system to send unsolicited emails to other members, expect to be banned. If you use hateful speech or abusive language in a PM or forum, expect to be banned. Offenses that are deemed to be accidental or mild will result in:

1) Initial warning in the form of an email from the Administrator explaining the complaint/problem.

2) Second warning accompanied by disabling of user account for 7 days.

3) Third warning accompanied by disabling of user account for 60 days.

4) Permanent ban of user account.

Any member accused of violating the forum rules will have 72 hours to defend themselves. In the case of lesser offenses, the user account will remain active during this time and the user may contact the Site Administrator through the PM system or via email. For more severe offenses, the user account will be disabled immediately and the user may use the Contact Us link to appeal to the Administrator.
